Background Mean platelet volume (MPV) is considered an emerging biological marker of platelet function and activity. Higher MPV has been scientifically linked to diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, stroke, and coronary artery disease. Plasma fibrinogen is a circulating glycoprotein, serving as an acute inflammatory marker ultimately leading to enhanced atherogenic plaque formation.

Biophotonics as a new application in optical technology: A bibliometric analysis.

Heliyon

December 2023

Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, 43600, Selangor, Malaysia.

Biophotonics procures wide practicability in life sciences and medicines. The contribution of biophotonics is well recognized in various Nobel Prizes. Therefore, this paper aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of biophotonics publications.

In the current work, the rational synthesis of trinuclear copper complexes, incorporating acute bite angle POP- and PSP-type ligands, is reported. The in situ formation of POP (PhP-O-PPh) or PSP (PhP-S-PPh) ligands in the presence of a copper(I) precursor gave access to various trinuclear copper complexes of the form [Cu(μ-Hal)(μ-PXP)]PF [X = O; Hal = Cl (), Br (), I () and X = S; Hal = Cl (), Br (), I ()]. Related iodide-containing complexes and clusters, such as [Cu(μ-I)(PhPI)] () and [Cu(μ-I)(μ-I)(μ-PSP)] (), could also be obtained via the variation of the reaction stoichiometry.

Influence of the Nature of Aminoalcohol on ZnO Films Formed by Sol-Gel Methods.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

March 2023

Department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry (Section of Inorganic Chemistry), Faculty of Chemistry, University of Barcelona, Martí i Franquès 1-11, 08028 Barcelona, Spain.

Here we present comparative studies of: (i) the formation of ZnO thin films via the sol-gel method using zinc acetate dihydrate (ZAD), 2-methoxyethanol (ME) as solvent, and the aminoalcohols (AA): ethanolamine, ()-(+)-2-amino-1-propanol, ()-(+)-2-amino-3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-aminophenol, and aminobenzyl alcohol, and (ii) elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, absorption and emission spectra of films obtained after deposition by drop coating on glass surface, and thermal treatments at 300, 400, 500 and 600 °C. The results obtained provide conclusive evidences of the influence of the AA used (aliphatic vs. aromatic) on the ink stability (prior to deposition), and on the composition, structures, morphologies, and properties of films after calcination, in particular, those due to the different substituents, H, Me, or Pr, and to the presence or the absence of a -CH unit.

This study assessed 3 endodontic motors, X-Smart Plus (Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Switzerland), VDW.Silver Reciproc (VDW GmbH, München, Germany) and, iRoot (Bassi Endodontics, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) in 2 different reciprocating settings. The movements evaluated were 170° in counter-clockwise (CCW) and 50° in clockwise (CW) at 350 RPM, and 150° CCW and 30° CW at 300 RPM.
