Individuals who are immunocompromised (IC) due to therapy or underlying disease are at increased risk of herpes zoster (HZ). This study evaluates the public health impact of recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) relative to no HZ vaccination for the prevention of HZ among adults aged ≥18 years diagnosed with selected cancers in the United States (US). A static Markov model was used to simulate three cohorts of individuals who are IC with cancer (time horizon of 30 years; one-year cycle length): hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients, patients with breast cancer (BC; a solid tumor example), and patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL; a hematological malignancy example).

Despite advances in therapy of Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL), a proportion of patients will not respond or relapse. The authors had previously identified CD25, IL-2Rα, as a target for systemic radioimmunotherapy of HL since most normal cells do not express CD25, but it is expressed by a minority of Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells and most Tregs rosetting around HRS cells. This was a single institution, nonrandomized, open-label phase I/II trial of radiolabeled Y-daclizumab, an anti-CD25 monoclonal antibody, BEAM (carmustine, etoposide, cytarabine, and melphalan) conditioning treatment followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (ASCT).

Genetic alterations of the / locus on chromosome 9p24.1 are a defining biological feature of classical Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). The resulting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression on Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg cells as well as the PD-L1 expressed in the HL microenvironment result in an ineffective host antitumor immune response and make HL a ripe target for programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) blockade.

Objectives: Body size is postulated to modulate type 1 diabetes as either a trigger of islet autoimmunity or an accelerator to clinical onset after seroconversion. As overweight and obesity continue to rise among children, the aim of this study was to determine whether human leukocyte antigen DQ (HLA-DQ) genotypes may be related to body size among children genetically at risk for type 1 diabetes.

Methods: Repeated measures of weight and height were collected from 5969 children 2-4 years of age enrolled in The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young prospective study.

Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), a B cell-derived cancer, is one of the most common lymphomas. In HL, the tumor cells--Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells--are usually very rare in the tissue. Although HRS cells are derived from mature B cells, they have largely lost their B cell phenotype and show a very unusual co-expression of markers of various hematopoietic cell types.
