Bone screws normally used for functionally stable osteosynthesis were subjected to marginal torque in a limited number of cadaver mandibles. Since the various manufacturers differ considerably in lead, form of thread, and relation of external and internal diameters, the experiments appeared to us to be revealing in terms of the practical application. The experimental set up was presented in addition to the findings.

Numerical transport models are important tools for nuclear emergency decision makers in that they rapidly provide early predictions of dispersion of released radionuclides, which is key information to determine adequate emergency protective measures. They can also help us understand and describe environmental processes and can give a comprehensive assessment of transport and transfer of radionuclides in the environment. Transport of radionuclides in air and ocean is affected by a number of different physico-chemical processes.

The impact of COVID-19 has extended beyond the health toll it has taken on populations. Purpose: To assess the association of serum vitamin D level and the live birth rate in women undergoing frozen embryo transfer (FET).
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study involving 1489 infertile women who had frozen embryo transfer at two tertiary reproductive medicine centres from 2019 to 2021. Only the first frozen embryo transfer was included for women who had repeated transfers during the period.
Background: Magnetization transfer (MT) MRI is sensitive to the presence of macromolecules, including amyloid-beta, and previous work suggests that it may be useful for discriminating patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) from healthy controls. In this study, we investigated if quantitative MT (qMT) is capable of detecting the amyloid concentration in a preclinical cohort.
Method: We recruited 14 subjects with a clinical dementia rating of 0 from NYU's ADRC cohort (7 male, mean age 74, 6 amyloid-negative).

Background: Plasma biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease (AD) have demonstrated their accuracy as diagnostic tools, suggesting their impending integration into clinical practice. Medical comorbidities might not only affect AD pathological burdens but also cause variability of plasma biomarkers by affecting their transfer via blood brain barriers. In the present study, we aimed to determine which comorbidities might affect plasma biomarkers with (real effects) or without (biological variability) AD pathological burdens measured by β-amyloid (Aβ) uptakes on PET.
