Glenoid bone loss associated with abnormal glenoid morphology can be encountered in complex primary and revision reverse shoulder arthroplasty. Strategies to deal with this include allografts, augments and custom-made prostheses. We describe a unique case of a long-standing neglected posterior fracture dislocation of the shoulder with severe glenoid bone loss and retroversion.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The literature is conflicting as to whether the high hip center (HHC) reconstruction in total hip arthroplasty (THA) is an ideal option for patients with severe developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). This study aimed to compare the mid-term functional and radiographic outcomes of THA using HHC versus anatomical hip center (AHC) technique in Crowe types II and III DDH. Our hypothesis was that there may be no differences in terms of functional and radiographic outcomes between patients who underwent THA using HHC or AHC.

Background: Modular stems require careful follow-up, especially after any design modification. This study investigated the mid- to long-term outcomes of total hip arthroplasty in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip using the S-ROM-A stem, a modified S-ROM stem for Asians.
Methods: We previously reported short-term outcomes for all 220 dysplastic hips that underwent primary total hip arthroplasty with the S-ROM-A stem.

An 84-year-old woman who underwent bilateral cementless total hip arthroplasty (THA) for dysplastic osteoarthritis 22 years ago was subjected to analysis. A huge soft-tissue mass was revealed in her left medial thigh. Plain radiographs of the left hip joint revealed severe osteolysis around the stem, cup, and ischium.
