The experiments were carried out on "Swiss" mice which received injections of mercuric chloride. The organs examined included the spleen and bone marrow. The detection of mercury in the cells of the above organs was performed according to the histochemical method developed by Timm[13]. In both cases Timm's Ioethod failed, proving to be invalid for determination of the lowest mercuric concentrations. By use of the hXE technique, it was found that the minimum concentration of mercury in the tissue detectable by cyto-chemical methods amounts to 0.65-1.0 ppm.

Background: Gaucheromas, pseudotumors composed of Gaucher cells, are rare complications of Gaucher's Disease (GD). They are usually seen in patients receiving enzyme replacement. Surgery is generally not recommended for these benign masses in treatment management.

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory multisystem disease characterised by non-necrotising granulomas that typically affect the lungs, lymph nodes, eyes, skin, liver, spleen, heart, bones and joints. Although rare, necrotising granulomas can also occur. In this report, we present a case of a healthy woman in her 60s who presented with a 1-year history of fatigue and generalised body aches.

Our preliminary data using bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) collected from ICR mice treated with anti-sirtuin (anti-SIRT) 1 antibody showed that uptake was significantly attenuated. We then further investigated the effect of an inhibitor of SIRT1/2, cambinol, in the progression of . The in vitro results using RAW264.

Novel antigenic variant strains of the infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) classified into genogroup A2d have been found in the western part of Japan since 2017. Novel antigenic variant IBDVs now occur in higher frequencies in poultry houses and have been detected in the eastern part of Japan, indicating the spread of IBDVs despite the usual IBDV vaccination. We isolated a novel antigenic variant IBDV, designated as the B2977CE2C3 strain.

Blocking the Sphingosine-1-Phosphate Receptor 2 (S1P) Reduces the Severity of Collagen-Induced Arthritis in DBA-1J Mice.

The amount of sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) found in the synovial tissue of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis is five times greater than that in those with osteoarthritis. Our study aims to determine whether inhibiting S1P can mitigate collagen-induced rheumatoid arthritis (CIA) by using an S1P antagonist, JTE-013, alongside DBA-1J wild-type (WT) and knock-out (KO) mice. CIA causes increases in arthritis scores, foot swelling, synovial hyperplasia, pannus formation, proteoglycan depletion, cartilage damage, and bone erosion, but these effects are markedly reduced when JTE-013 is administered to WT mice.
