Militarine is a monomer molecule with abundant and distinctive biological properties, also the lead member of secondary metabolites in Bletilla striata, while its biosynthesis mechanism is still unknown. To improve the production efficiency of militarine, sodium acetate and salicylic acid (SA) were introduced as elicitors into the suspension-cultured callus of B. striata.

Alkali and sulfate effects on mechanical properties and microscopic mechanisms of slag and fly ash geopolymers.

Sci Rep

College of Hydraulic and Civil Engineering, Xinjiang Agricultural University, Urumqi, 830052, Xinjiang, People's Republic of China.

Aiming at the problem that it is difficult to realize low-cost, high-performance and large-scale utilization of cementitious materials prepared from bulk solid wastes, this paper constructs a set of composite cementitious system based on alkaline activation of slag and fly ash (FA) by calcium carbide slag (CCS) and synergistic activation of sodium sulfate (NaSO) as a chemical dopant. The influence of factors such as solid waste type, mixing ratio, and NaSO content on the mechanical properties of composite cementitious systems was investigated by assessing compressive strength and analyzing microstructure using XRD, SEM-EDS, and FTIR. The test results indicate that CCS and NaSO exert significant influences on the strength of the composite cementitious system.

Fabricating an antioxidant and bacteriostatic soy protein isolate film double-crosslinked via dialdehyde cellulose nanofibers and Tara tannins for beef tallow and cooked pork preservation.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Bio-based Materials Science and Technology of Ministry of Education, Northeast Forestry University, No. 26 Hexing Road, Xiangfang District, Harbin 150040, PR China. Electronic address:

Although Tara tannins (TT) have given soy protein isolate (SPI) film antioxidant properties, the mechanical and barrier properties were not significantly improved. In this work, dialdehyde cellulose nanofibers (DACNF) were obtained through oxidation using sodium periodate and incorporated into SPI film with TT to obtain antioxidant and bacteriostatic properties. With increased DACNF content, the anti-swelling, mechanical and barrier properties of SPI film were enhanced due to a double-crosslinked structure based on the covalent and hydrogen bonds formed between DACNF, TT and SPI.

The main objective of this study is to prepare sodium alginate (SA)-based biofilms incorporated with watercress oil (WCO) as an antimicrobial material for sustainable food packaging. The physicochemical, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties of the prepared bio-based films were investigated. The antioxidant activity showed a remarkable increase, with DPPH inhibition increasing from 13.

Molecularly imprinted hydrogels embedded with two-dimensional photonic crystals for the detection of dexamethasone/betamethasone sodium phosphate.

Dexamethasone sodium phosphate (DSP) and betamethasone sodium phosphate (BSP) imprinted hydrogels embedded with two-dimensional photonic crystals (2DPC) were developed as hormones-sensitive photonic hydrogel sensors with highly sensitive, selective, anti-interference and reproducible recognition capability. The DSP/BSP molecularly imprinted photonic hydrogels (denoted as DSP-MIPH and BSP-MIPH) can specifically recognize DSP/BSP by rebinding the DSP/BET molecules to nanocavities in the hydrogel network. This recognition is enabled by the similar shape, size, and binding sites of the nanocavities to the target molecules.
