Background: Taurine has been demonstrated to regulate and improve metabolic health. However, physiological and pathological differences among individuals with overweight or obesity may result in varied responses to taurine supplementation. This study aims to estimate the effects of long-term taurine supplementation on blood lipids, glycemia, and insulin sensitivity in adults with overweight or obesity through a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objectives: SGLT-2 inhibitors have been shown to exert cardio- and renoprotective actions. We aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms using H-NMR based metabolomics in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus who received dapagliflozin.
Methods: 50 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, inadequately controlled on metformin monotherapy (HbA1c > 7%) received dapagliflozin for 3 months and 30 matched patients received insulin degludec for 3 months.

It is common knowledge that the cerebellum is a structure of the central nervous system that influences the processes of balance and motor coordination. Recently its influence on social interactions has also been emphasized. The sigma receptor agonist: 3-di-o-tolylguanidine (DTG) is characterized by high affinity for sigma 1 and sigma 2 receptors, widely distributed in the cerebellum.

Reducing antioxidant levels exacerbates the generation of reactive oxygen/nitrogen species, leading to alpha-synuclein aggregation and the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons. These play a key role in the onset of Parkinson's disease (PD), for which effective treatment remains elusive. This study examined the neuroprotective effects of taurine, an essential β-amino acid with antioxidant and antiinflammation properties, in Swiss male mice exposed to rotenone-induced PD.
