Objective: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) poses a significant threat to lung cancer patients, particularly those receiving treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). We aimed to develop and validate a nomogram model for predicting the occurrence of VTE in lung cancer patients undergoing ICI therapy.
Methods: The data for this retrospective cohort study was collected from cancer patients admitted to Chongqing University Cancer Hospital for ICI treatment between 2019 and 2022.

Previous clinical studies indicate that monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) inhibition by blackcurrants must be predominantly attributed to bioactives other than anthocyanins. In this natural products discovery study, MAO-A/B inhibitory phytochemicals were isolated from blackcurrants, and a double-blind crossover study investigated the efficacy of freeze-dried whole-fruit blackcurrant powder in inhibiting MAO-B compared with blackcurrant juice in healthy adults. Platelet MAO-B inhibition was comparable between powder (89% ± 6) and juice (91% ± 4), and it was positively correlated with MAO-modulated plasma catecholamines, subjective alertness, and reduced mental fatigue, assessed using the Bond-Lader questionnaire.

Antidepressant duloxetine has been shown protective effect on indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer, which was escorted by inflammation in the gastric mucosa. Cytokines are the principal mediators of inflammation. Thus, by screening the differential expression of cytokines in the gastric mucosa using cytokine array at 3 h after indomethacin exposure, when the gastric ulcer began to format, we found that indomethacin increased cytokines which promoted inflammation responses, whereas duloxetine decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines increased by indomethacin and increased RANTES expression.

β-N-methylamino-l-alanine (BMAA) has been shown to inhibit vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2), thereby preventing the uptake of monoaminergic neurotransmitters into platelet dense granules and synaptic vesicles. The inhibition is hypothesized to be through direct association of BMAA with hydroxyl groupꟷcontaining amino acid residues in VMAT2. This study evaluated whether BMAA-induced inhibition of VMAT2 could be prevented directly by co-incubation of BMAA with amino acids, and if this protection was specific for BMAA inhibition of VMAT2.

Background: Peripheral blood oxygen monitoring via chemoreceptors in the carotid body (CB) is an integral function of the autonomic cardiorespiratory regulation. The presence of the purinergic P2Y12 receptor (P2Y12R) has been implicated in CB; however, the exact role of the receptor in O sensing and signal transduction is unknown.
Methods: The presence of P2Y12R was established by immunoblotting, RT qPCR and immunohistochemistry.
