In clinical scenarios, bone defects stemming from trauma, infections, degenerative diseases, or hereditary conditions necessitate considerable bone grafts. Researchers ardently focus on creating diverse biomaterials to expedite and enhance these intricate restorative processes. These biomaterials play a pivotal role in aiding osteogenesis and angiogenesis factors for reconstructing stable, fully developed bone tissue.

The Great Wall in China, constructed from rammed earth, faces threats from natural erosion. Vascular plants and biocrusts have enhanced the stability of the Great Wall through various mechanisms; however, understanding of the colonization processes of vascular plants and biocrusts on the wall, as well as their protective mechanisms, remains limited. This study investigated the vascular plant communities, biocrusts, soil moisture content, soil properties, aggregate mechanical stability, aggregate water stability, and soil erodibility factors across seven fine-scale microtopographies of the Great Wall (lower, middle, and upper zones on the east and west faces, as well as the wall crest).

Disruption of developmental processes affecting the fetal lung leads to pulmonary hypoplasia. Pulmonary hypoplasia results from several conditions including congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and oligohydramnios. Both entities have high morbidity and mortality, and no effective therapy that fully restores normal lung development.

Exercise intolerance, a hallmark of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) exacerbated by obesity, involves unclear mechanisms related to skeletal muscle metabolism. In a "2-hit" model of HFpEF, we investigated the ability of exercise therapy (voluntary wheel running) to reverse skeletal muscle dysfunction and exercise intolerance. Using state-of-the-art metabolic cages and a multiomic approach, we demonstrate exercise can rescue dysfunctional skeletal muscle lipid and branched-chain amino acid oxidation and restore exercise capacity in mice with cardiometabolic HFpEF.

Systematical identification of regulatory GPCRs by single-cell trajectory inference reveals the role of ADGRD1 and GPR39 in adipogenesis.

Adipogenesis is the healthy expansion of white adipose tissue (WAT), serving as a compensatory response to maintain metabolic homeostasis in the presence of excess energy in the body. Therefore, the identification of novel regulatory molecules in adipogenesis, specifically membrane receptors such as G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), holds significant clinical promise. These receptors can serve as viable targets for pharmaceuticals, offering potential for restoring metabolic homeostasis in individuals with obesity.
