The purpose of this study was to develop criteria for predicting survival and clinical improvement with long-term domiciliary home oxygen therapy (LTDO2) in patients with both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cor pulmonale (CP). Twenty-eight such patients were divided into 2 groups, responders (R) and nonresponders (NR), on the basis of the fall in their mean pulmonary artery pressure (delta PAP) while breathing 28% O2 for 24 h. The R(n = 17) and NR (n = 11) had delta PAP greater than and lesser than 5 mmHg, respectively. Eighty-eight percent of the R, but only 22% of the NR, were alive at the end of 2 yr of LTDO2. Eighty-five percent of R, but only 11% of NR, achieved an end-exercise maximal oxygen consumption (max VO2) greater than 6.5 ml min-1 kg-1. Left ventricular ejection fraction improved while breathing O2 for 48 h in the R only. The NR and R were similar in all other respects. We conclude that delta PAP greater than 5 mmHg and/or max VO2 6.5 ml min-1 kg-1 or greater predict 2-yr survival with LTDO2 in patients with COPD and CP, and it can be useful in planning their management.

Vγ9Vδ2 T cells constitute a homogeneous effector T cell population that lyses tumors of different origin, including the prostate. We generated a bispecific T cell engager (bsTCE) to direct Vγ9Vδ2 T cells to PSMA prostate cancer (PCa) cells. The PSMA-Vδ2 bsTCE triggered healthy donor and PCa patient-derived Vγ9Vδ2 T cells to lyse PSMA PCa cell lines and patient-derived tumor cells while sparing normal prostate cells and enhanced Vγ9Vδ2 T cell antigen cross-presentation to CD8 T cells.

Background: In this study, we aimed to evaluate color differences of the skin paddle in autologous breast reconstruction performed using the deep inferior epigastric artery perforator (DIEP) flap and the profunda artery perforator (PAP) flap. The primary focus was to compare the color match between the reconstructed breast skin and the donor-site skin, to achieve optimal esthetic results.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on patients who had undergone unilateral breast reconstruction with a DIEP flap or a PAP flap between January 2020 and December 2022.

Background And Aims: We aimed to evaluate the association between electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiographic findings in patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) before and after systemic thrombolysis.
Methods: We included 38 PE patients admitted to the hospital with approved right ventricular (RV) dysfunction who were indicated for systemic thrombolysis. Indications for systemic thrombolysis were considered as patients who were either hemodynamically unstable on admission or became unstable in the course of hospital admission.
