The Tb3+ fluorescence is greatly enhanced, as a result of binding of various platinum coordination complexes to DNA, as compared to native DNA. The largest enhancement is observed for cis-Pt(NH3)2Cl2 but the fluorescence intensity does not however reach the level attained for thermally denatured DNA. Diethylenetriamine-Pt(II) produces very little increase of Tb3+ fluorescence. The electric dichroism in the DNA absorption band drastically decreases upon binding of the various Pt compounds investigated except diethylenetriamine-Pt. The results are discussed in terms of the various modes of binding of Pt derivatives to DNA, particularly in relation to the level of denaturation of the double helix.

Persistent phosphor has emerged as a promising candidate for information storage due to rapid accessibility and low-energy requirements. However, the low storage capacity has limited its practical application. Herein, we skillfully designed and developed NaGdGeO:Pb,Tb stimulated phosphor by trace doped Sm.

Carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCh) is a natural polysaccharide derivative with biodegradability, rich in active amino and carboxyl groups. It can act as a ligand to coordinate with rare earth ions, transferring absorbed energy to the central ion to sensitize its luminescence. In this paper, CMCh-Tb was prepared as a solid fluorescent probe by mixing CMCh solution with Tb.

Photoluminescence is one of the most intriguing properties of metal nanoclusters derived from their molecular-like electronic structure, however, achieving high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of metal core-dictated fluorescence remains a formidable challenge. Here, we report efficient suppression of the total structural vibrations and rotations, and management of the pathways and rates of the electron transfer dynamics to boost a near-unity absolute PLQY, by decorating progressive addition of cations. Specifically, with the sequential addition of Zn, Ag, and Tb into the 3-mercaptopropionic acids capped Au nanoclusters (NCs), the low-frequency vibration of the metal core progressively decreases from 144.

Industrialization of military textiles faces many challenges and some requirements such as durability, protection and suitability for hostile environment must be provided. Herein, fluorescent protective cotton with ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-protection and antimicrobial property was currently prepared via the immobilization of lanthanide-metal organic framework (Ln-MOF). Cotton fabrics were primarily activated via cationization process with 3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride to obtain the cationized cotton (Q-cotton).

Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is a commonly used antibiotic, but its abuse may cause bacterial resistance, posing a high risk to the environment and human health. Herein, based on the molecular imprinting technology, this study proposed a ratiometric fluorescence sensor employing the "post-doping" strategy, which aims to be rapid, selective, and visually easy-to-use for CIP detection to address antibiotic residues and environmental risks. Specifically, by exploiting the "antenna effect" of lanthanide metal ions (Ln), terbium (III) (Tb) chosen as a fluorescence-assisted functional monomer as well as the red emitting CdTe quantum dots (QDs) as the internal reference signal were introduced into multi-emission Tb-CdTe@SiO@MIPs (TbMIPs).
