Despite the maturity and sophistication of anaesthesia workstations, improvements in our understanding of intraoperative mechanical ventilation, and use of less invasive surgical techniques, postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) are still a common problem in surgical patients of all ages. PPCs are associated with a higher incidence of perioperative morbidity and mortality, longer hospital stays, and higher healthcare costs. PPCs are strongly associated with anaesthesia-induced atelectasis, which predisposes to lung damage when partially collapsed lungs are subjected to mechanical ventilation.

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by severe infection and often complicates acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and acute lung injury (ALI) due to the collapse of the oxidative and inflammatory balance induced by microbial pathogens, including lipopolysaccharides (LPS). In sepsis-related ARDS/ALI, NADPH oxidase (NOX) and toll-like receptors (TLR) in neutrophils and macrophages are key players in initiating oxidative and inflammatory imbalances. Although NOX and TLR activation has been linked to carbon monoxide (CO), the mechanism by which CO affects sepsis-related ARDS/ALI through NOX and TLR remains unknown.

We present a rare case of asymptomatic allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) concurrent with active pulmonary tuberculosis. Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis is an immunological pulmonary disorder characterized by hypersensitivity to Aspergillus fumigatus, while pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is a complex infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). The association between pulmonary tuberculosis infections and Aspergillus infections remains a fascinating area of inquiry.

Background: Exogenous foreign body aspiration is a common high-risk condition in children. In a few cases, foreign body aspiration can lead to airway granulomas that interfere with tracheoscopic foreign body removal and threaten the life of the child.
Methods: This study was a retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 184 pediatric patients who were admitted to Quanzhou Children's Hospital from 2018 to 2021 with exogenous tracheobronchial foreign bodies.
