Background: The prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is dependent on the diagnostic criteria used and there is no consensus on screening methods and diagnostic criteria. The International Association for Diabetes in Pregnancy Study Group (IADPSG) recently put forward new diagnostic criteria and encourages its adoption worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of GDM and to compare the foeto-maternal outcomes of women diagnosed with GDM in the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa using the WHO 1999 and IADPSG criteria.

Objective: Low placentation is associated with increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). There is a paucity of data on the association between second trimester low placentation that later resolves, and PPH. Our objective was to investigate the association of resolved low placentation and other prenatal ultrasound markers, and PPH with delivery.

Introduction Congenital malformations are a major cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality in developing countries and are assuming greater importance than ever before. They affect a variety of organ systems and various etiologies have been identified in literature including Toxoplasmosis, Other (syphilis, varicella-zoster, parvovirus B19), Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes Simplex (TORCH) infections, exposure to pollutants, consumption of tobacco and alcohol, and advanced maternal age. In developing countries, diagnosis is frequently delayed which leads to poorer outcomes.

Background: Congenital mesoblastic nephroma represents 3-10% of all pediatric renal tumors. With the advancement of ultrasound diagnostics and magnetic resonance imaging, the diagnosis of this renal neoplasm is increasingly being established prenatally and at birth. It usually presents as a benign tumor, but it can severely affect pregnancy outcomes, contributing to perinatal morbidity and mortality.

This is a fatal case of multiple complicated congenital anomalies displaying several symptoms consistent with hydrolethalus syndrome. The newborn's phenotype is characterized by a combination of serious anatomical abnormalities such as open-book cerebral hemispheres, defective lobulation of the lungs (one lobe on the left, two on the right), a smaller right kidney, a smooth cerebral surface, and a specific keyhole-shaped defect in the skull base, primarily associated with hydrocephalus.
