Chloro-N-desmethyldiazepam (CDD) significantly reduced plasma tryptophan (TRY) and increased brain TRY in mice and rats. Quipazine did not change TRY levels in mouse plasma and brain but it respectively reduced and increased these two parameters in rats, to almost the same extent as CDD. Metergoline, an antagonist of serotonergic receptors, decreased blood TRY in both mice and rats but failed to change brain TRY. CDD significantly but slightly increased brain serotonin in rats. This effect was blocked by metergoline.

Introduction: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are associated with an increased risk of developing chronic health conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and subjective cognitive decline (SCD), self-reported confusion/memory loss, and an early clinical manifestation of ADRD. While ACEs and SCD have both been individually studied in transgender and nonbinary (TGN) adults, no study has examined the relationship between the two among this population. Objective: This study assessed the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on cue reactivity and craving for game-related cues using event-related potentials (ERPs) in internet gaming disorder (IGD) patients.
Methods: At baseline, a series of game-related and neutral pictures were shown to both IGD and healthy controls (HCs) while ERPs were recorded. Late positive potentials (LPP) were used to investigate cue reactivity.

The vagus nerve is proposed to enable communication between the gut microbiome and the brain, but activity-based evidence is lacking. We find that mice reared germ-free exhibit decreased vagal tone relative to colonized controls, which is reversed via microbiota restoration. Perfusing antibiotics into the small intestines of conventional mice, but not germ-free mice, acutely decreases vagal activity which is restored upon re-perfusion with intestinal filtrates from conventional, but not germ-free, mice.

Over the last four decades, non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (NIBS) have significantly gained interest in the fields of cognitive sciences and dementia care, including neurorehabilitation, for its emerging potential in increasing the insights over brain functions and in boosting residual cognitive functions. In the present paper, basic physiological and technical mechanisms and different applications of NIBS were reviewed and discussed to highlight the importance of NIBS in multidisciplinary and translational approaches in clinical and research settings of cognitive sciences and neurodegenerative diseases, especially in Alzheimer's disease. Indeed, NIBS strategies may represent a promising opportunity to increase the potential of neuromodulation as efficacious interventions for individualized patients care.
