Affective crimes constitute a difficult and important problem in forensic psychiatry. After a short historical overview, a number of important problems are discussed and controversial notions frequently used in psychiatric-psychological practice are critically assessed in a postulate-like manner. Finally, some basic propositions are outlined in order to facilitate evaluation of affective crimes.
