The properties of laser scalpel (perfect homeostasis, aseptic coagulation surface, formation of dense coagulation crust) make it useful for proctological operations, and for ablation of hemorrhoids in particular. Operations were performed on 11 patients aged 33 to 62. No complications were noted. All the patients were followed in the postoperative period from 8 to 12 months. Recurrences, development of strictures or weakness of the anal constrictor were not noted.
