Recurrent urinary infections can be connected with unilaterally shrunken kidneys and they frequently can be removed by nephroureterectomy with exception of reflux-induced shrunken kidneys. Insufficient kidneys, caused by reflux and developed in early childhood, are not the source of infection, in general. Hypertension, induced by the vascular or parenchymal process of unilaterally insufficient kidneys, frequently can be removed by nephrectomy. But the renin quotient is not a reliable prognostic value. Therefore we will bring into question the investigations of renin concentration in both renal veins and peripheral blood circulation.

The nutritional status of fish is essential for its health, experimental studies, and aquaculture practices. The current study investigated the impact of food deprivation on biochemical parameters, histology of skin, gill, and kidney tissues, and ultrastructure of gills in Clarias batrachus. Fish were subjected to food deprivation for 2, 7, and 15 days resulting in (a) significant increase in plasma cortisol levels, (b) no significant changes in plasma osmolality and plasma glucose content, and (c) significant decrease in liver and muscle glycogen contents.

Toxoplasmosis induced by Toxoplasma gondii is a well-known health threat, that prompts fatal encephalitis increased with immunocompromised patients, in addition, it can cause chorioretinitis, microcephaly, stillbirth in the fetus and even led to death. Standard therapy uses sulfadiazine and pyrimethamine drugs revealed beneficial results during the acute stage, however, it has severe side effects. UPLC-ESI-MS/MS used to explore C.

Background: In 2015, a selective decrease in the glomerular filtration of middle-sized molecules such as cystatin C compared to small molecules such as creatinine was first described and tentatively termed "Shrunken pore syndrome." Numerous studies have thereafter found an association between this syndrome (defined by a low eGFR to eGFR ratio) and mortality and morbidity. In 2023, the syndrome was renamed selective glomerular hypofiltration syndromes (SGHS) as shrunken pores are not the only pathophysiological mechanism.

Dairy Microbiology Department, SMC College of Dairy Science, Kamdhenu University, Anand-388 110, Gujarat, India.

Research Background: Prevention, management or cure of diseases through dietary approaches is becoming increasingly important. Research suggests that probiotic, oxalate-degrading species administered a milk and cereal food can prevent kidney stones while also addressing nutritional deficiencies and maintaining essential calcium levels. This study investigates the effect of a composite probiotic milk beverage on urolithiatic rats.

A low eGFR/eGFR-ratio is characteristic of a group of serious kidney disorders called 'Selective Glomerular Hypofiltration Syndromes'. This study examines if such a low ratio can also be used to evaluate the risk for women with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy to develop severe maternal morbidity. All women discharged from the perinatal ward at the Skåne University Hospital in Lund during the period of 1-9-2016 to 31-8-2017 under one of the diagnoses within hypertensive disorders in pregnancy were considered for inclusion in the study.
