Nanoparticles embedded in polymer matrices play a critical role in enhancing the properties and functionalities of composite materials. Detecting and quantifying nanoparticles from optical images (fixed samples-in vitro imaging) is crucial for understanding their distribution, aggregation, and interactions, which can lead to advancements in nanotechnology, materials science, and biomedical research. In this article, we propose an ensembled deep learning approach for automatic nanoparticle detection and oligomerization quantification in a polymer matrix for optical images.

Ferrate is a promising oxidizing agent for water treatment. Understanding the reaction characteristics and transformation mechanism of high-valent intermediate irons [Fe(V) and Fe(IV)] remains challenging. Here, we systematically investigated the roles of Fe(VI), Fe(V), and Fe(IV) species for acetaminophen oxidation using reaction kinetics, products, and stoichiometries.

Ignition of the lubricating fluid in a mechanical system is a highly undesirable and unsafe condition that can arise from the elevated temperatures and pressures to which the lubricant is subjected. It is therefore important to understand the fundamental chemistry behind its ignition to predict and prevent this condition. Lubricating oils, particularly those with a mineral oil base, are very complex mixtures of thousands of hydrocarbons.

The assembly of peptides is generally mediated by liquid-liquid phase separation, which enables control over assembly kinetics, final structure, and functions of peptide-based supramolecular materials. Modulating phase separation can alter the assembly kinetics of peptides by changing solvents or introducing external fields. Herein, we demonstrate that the assembly of peptides can be effectively catalyzed by complex coacervates.

Introduction: T cell activation requires T cell receptor (TCR) engagement by its specific ligand. This interaction initiates a series of proximal events including tyrosine phosphorylation of the CD3 and TCRζ chains, recruitment, and activation of the protein tyrosine kinases Lck and ZAP70, followed by recruitment of adapter and signaling proteins. CD28 co-stimulation is also required to generate a functional immune response.
