The incidence of aortic onchocerciasis due to Onchocerca armillata among slaughtered cattle in Ibadan, Nigeria, was about 2 per cent between 1979 and 1980. The average number of nodules per thoracic aorta was 7 and the mean size of each nodule was 9.7 +/- 2.6 mm. About 54 per cent of the nodules examined were calcified, and nodular calcification appeared to be related to the degree of infection or reinfection with the parasite. The histopathology of the aortic lesions is described.

A 60-year-old female patient was referred for further diagnosis and treatment of a posterior mediastinal lesion. The lesion was incidentally discovered in a CT scan of the chest and abdomen, which had been performed due to an increased CA 19-9 in routine blood tests. At the time point of the referral, the lesion had already been biopsied twice (CT guided and through EUS) but the histopathology was inconclusive.

Introduction: Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (BMSC-EVs) are widely used for therapeutic purposes in preclinical studies. However, their utility in treating diabetes-associated atherosclerosis remains largely unexplored. Here, we aimed to characterize BMSC-EV-mediated regulation of autophagy and macrophage polarization.

Purpose: The underlying mechanism why segmentectomy has demonstrated the non-inferiority to lobectomy in several randomized trials remains unclear. Computed tomography (CT)-measured pulmonary artery (PA) enlargement reflects PA pressure and predicts the prognosis of certain respiratory diseases. We compared the preoperative and postoperative PA diameter to the ascending aorta diameter (PA/A) ratio, investigating its impact on right ventricular function in lung resection.

Introduction And Importance: Debulking surgery is the main approach for recurrent adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCTs), but the effectiveness of laparoscopic extensive cytoreduction in advanced cases and its impact on quality of life (QoL) remains unclear.
Case Presentation: A 34-year-old woman, who had a right adnexectomy for AGCT in 2020, was referred with an 8-month history of a large left ovarian cyst and amenorrhea. Preoperative evaluations indicated a recurrence 18 months post-diagnosis.

Definitive hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) arise from a small number of hemogenic endothelial cells (HECs) within the developing embryo. Understanding the origin and ontogeny of HSPCs is of considerable interest and potential therapeutic value. It has been proposed that the murine placenta contains HECs that differentiate into HSPCs.
