Background: The purpose of this study was to report the clinical and psychological outcomes of using a locking compression plate (LCP) as a sequential external fixator following the distraction phase in the treatment of tibial bone defects caused by fracture-related infection (FRI).
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical records and consecutive X-ray images of patients with tibial bone defects who were treated with an LCP as a sequential external fixator following the distraction phase, between June 2017 and December 2022. The ASAMI criteria were applied to assess the bone and functional outcomes, and postoperative complications were evaluated by using the Paley classification.

The design of drill pipe joint thread with unequal taper is proposed to investigate the fracture failure of the API NC38 used in the drill pipe joint of the SU36-8-4H2 well. The effect of changes in thread taper on the stress distribution and mechanical properties of drill pipe joints is analyzed and compared with the API standard thread to determine the optimal thread structure with unequal taper. The results reveal highly concentrated stress at the last engaged thread root of API NC38 single-shoulder thread (SUT) may cause early yield failure of the joint threads.

As the core component of a swivel bridge, the spherical hinge structure exhibits complex mechanical behavior under high pressure, making it challenging to describe accurately through theoretical analysis or on-site monitoring. In this context, this paper systematically examined the mechanical characteristics and key design parameters of a simplified spherical hinge structure using numerical simulations and formula derivation. Additionally, an indoor scaled test was conducted based on a representative spherical hinge structure to further investigate its mechanical properties.

Background: Although brachial access (BA) has become increasingly used in percutaneous endovascular procedures, results from head-to-head comparisons between open brachial access (OBA) and ultrasound-guided percutaneous brachial access (PBA) are limited in the literature. The objective of our multicenter, prospective, noninterventional ARCHIv BrachiAL study was to compare the safety and efficacy of OBA and PBA to perform peripheral arterial interventions.
Methods: From July 2019 to January 2021, all patients needing peripheral endovascular procedures with brachial artery access were consecutively included in the study by 15 surgeons in 14 centers.
