16 alpha-Hydroxyestrone (16 alpha OHE ) has been shown previously to react with albumin, forming stable covalent adducts with lysine residues. The incubation of [3H]16 alpha OHE with whole blood also results in the incorporation of tritium into cells, with the rate of incorporation paralleling that of 16 alpha OHE -protein adduct formation. 32% of erythrocyte acid-precipitable radioactivity was found to be present within membrane proteins and electrophoresis demonstrated that several of these proteins are modified by [3H]16 alpha OHE . Membrane proteins from the red cells of ten individuals were reduced with sodium borohydride, acid hydrolyzed, and the 16 alpha OHE -lysine adducts purified by hydrophobic chromatography and reverse-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography. The amount of these adducts was quantitated by radioimmunoassay and found to be five times higher than the plasma levels of free 16 alpha OHE . This reflects most likely the accumulation of 16 alpha OHE -protein adducts during the course of the red cell life. Quantitation of 16 alpha OHE -protein adducts with other cellular proteins may contribute to our understanding of systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune disease in which elevated levels of 16 alpha OHE occur.

The spin pumping effect in antiferromagnets, which ultimately converts THz waves into a spin current, is the key physical mechanism leading to an essential function which harnesses the THz technology and spintronics. Here, we report thorough experimental investigations of the spin current induced by the antiferromagnetic spin pumping effect in epitaxial α-Fe_{2}O_{3} thin films having two distinct dynamic modes and unambiguously show that both the inter- and intrasublattice spin mixing conductance are equally substantial. Our experimental insight is an important advance for understanding the physics of transduction between the spin current and the staggered magnetization dynamics at THz frequency.

Objective: Breast cancer (BC) is the second most prevalent cancer worldwide. Estrogen has been increasingly recognized as a major contributor to the development of BC, playing a more critical role than previously understood. Estrogen derived nucleic acid and protein adducts have been shown to play significant roles in BC development and progression.

Development of overt hepatic encephalopathy (oHE) is a particularly feared complication when considering treatment with transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). However, the pathophysiology of HE, in particular after TIPS-insertion, is complex and valid predictors remain scarce. We aimed to investigate whether systemic inflammation markers (SIM) are linked to minimal (mHE) and overt HE (oHE) development before and after TIPS.

Statement Of Problem: The effects of nonaxial forces on peri-implant bone loss have been investigated, mostly in reference to buccal mesiodistal implant angulations as potential risk indicators. However, when implant angulations are multidirectional, including the buccolingual aspect, evaluations of peri-implant bone loss based solely on mesiodistal measurements may skew the correlation.
Purpose: The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the correlation between the magnitudes of multidirectional implant angulations and peri-implant crestal bone loss.

Background: Oral health education (OHE) for hearing and speech-impaired (HSI) adolescents relies heavily on sign language. However, it is not effective in conveying oral health concepts due to communication barriers, resulting in suboptimal oral health outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the jigsaw puzzle assisted visual reinforcement (JPVR) technique on toothbrushing knowledge, practices, and clinical parameters among HSI adolescents.
