The effects of locally applied Indomethacin were studied. Ten healthy subjects received 1 drop of a 1% watery solution 4 times a day in their left eye during 2 weeks, the right eye serving as control. Neither changes in visual acuity and refraction nor in the appearance and function of the external and anterior segment of the eye were found during this period. Sixty-four patients underwent surgery for simple senile cataract. Half of the patients, by random selection, received Indomethacin solution locally during the first week. The remaining half received routine treatment with a compound preparation of antibiotics and corticosteroid from the third post-operative day. An inflammatory score was calculated and was found to be significantly reduced in the Indomethacin group during the first week.

Background: Therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of neurological disease show great potential, but their applications are rather limited due to limited brain exposure. The most well-studied approach to enhance brain influx of protein therapeutics, is receptor-mediated transcytosis (RMT) by targeting nutrient receptors to shuttle protein therapeutics over the blood-brain barrier (BBB) along with their endogenous cargos. While higher brain exposure is achieved with RMT, the timeframe is short due to rather fast brain clearance.

Fetal cardiac function in pregnancy affected by congenital heart disease: protocol for a multicentre prospective cohort study.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common fetal malformation, and it can result first in cardiac remodeling and dysfunction and later in cardiac failure and hydrops. A limited number of studies have evaluated cardiac function in fetuses affected by CHD. Functional parameters could potentially identify fetuses at risk of cardiac failure before its development.

The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP), one of the most important ecological regions in the world, is experiencing a decline in ecological function as a result of severe grassland degradation. Elymus nutans is one of the ecological grass species for restoring degraded grasslands in QTP. The seed yield and seed quality are often limited by soil nutrients in QTP, so it is very important to optimize the application rates of fertilizer for E.

Research in aging often refers to animal models, particularly C57BL/6J (B6J) mice, considered gold standard. However, B6J mice are distributed by different suppliers, which results in divers substrains exhibiting notable phenotypic differences. To ensure a suitable phenotype of cardiac aging, we performed heart analyses of young (5 months) and old B6J mice (24 months) from two substrains: B6JRj (Janvier) and B6JCrl mice (Charles River).
