The construction of polypeptides was revolutionized by Merrifield's solid-phase synthesis more than half a century ago. Herein, we explore a completely different approach to making peptides. We test an original mechanistic postulate wherein a single peptide made entirely of dehydroalanine (Dha) residues can give rise to regio- and stereodefined peptides by iterative conjugate addition of one- or two-electron nucleophiles.

Polysorbate 80, commonly abbreviated as PS80, is a widely used pharmaceutical excipient renowned for its role as a solubilizer and stabilizer in drug formulations. Although PS80 is essential for various pharmaceutical applications, particularly in the formulation of injectable drugs, it has been implicated in a range of adverse reactions. However, due to the complexity of the composition of PS80, the differences in the types and contents of the constituents of PS80 from different manufacturers increase the probability or likelihood of their uneven quality.

This review reports on the competition/collaboration among intertwined base-catalyzed acyl cleavage bimolecular mechanism (B 2)/base-catalyzed alkyl cleavage bimolecular mechanism (B 2) or the related acid catalyzed mechanisms A 2/A 2 and A 1 concerning Carbonates chemistry also in comparison with Esters reactivity. A consistent analysis of the experimental data so far available in the literature led to proposing a theoretical Model outlining the differences in energy profiles among the above-mentioned reaction mechanisms. The reactions involving Carbonates are so tightly interconnected that the formation of the final product is driven by a precise not interfering sequence of B 2-B 2 (or A 2-A 2) mechanisms.

Sustainable development greatly benefits from the effective synthesis of bio-based copolymers that are environmentally friendly. To enhance the polymerization reactivity for the production of poly(ethylene--isosorbide terephthalate) (PEIT), five highly active Ti-M (M = Mg, Zn, Al, Fe, and Cu) bimetallic coordination catalysts were designed. The catalytic activity of Ti-M bimetallic coordination catalysts and single Sb- or Ti-based catalysts was compared, and the effects of catalysts with a different type of coordination metal (Mg, Zn, Al, Fe, and Cu) on the thermodynamic and crystallization properties of copolyesters were explored.
