High resolution 1H NMR spectra of perfused rat hearts have been obtained under normoxic, ischemic and hypoxic conditions. Several myocardial metabolites including taurine, carnitine, lactate and tissue glycerides are detected in the 1H NMR spectra. Changes in oxygen availability induce perturbations in the levels of some metabolites, in particular, lactate. Experiments with fasted rats and with substrate-free perfusion suggest that the glycerides detected in 1H spectra are metabolically mobilizable but have a slow rate of turnover. These results demonstrate that utility of 1H NMR in monitoring myocardial metabolism.

Background: This study aims to compare Lung Ultrasound (LUS) findings with High-Resolution Computerized Tomography (HRCT) and Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) to detect the severity of lung involvement in patients with Usual Interstitial Pneumonia (UIP) and Non-Specific Interstitial Pneumonia (NSIP).
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 35 UIP and 30 NSIP patients at a referral hospital. All patients underwent LUS, HRCT, and PFT.

Uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) is a crucial protein located in the mitochondrial inner membrane that mediates nonshivering thermogenesis. However, the molecular mechanisms by which enhancer-promoter chromatin interactions control Ucp1 transcriptional regulation in brown adipose tissue (BAT) are unclear. Here, we employed circularized chromosome conformation capture coupled with next-generation sequencing (4C-seq) to generate high-resolution chromatin interaction profiles of Ucp1 in interscapular brown adipose tissue (iBAT) and epididymal white adipose tissue (eWAT) and revealed marked changes in Ucp1 chromatin interaction between iBAT and eWAT.

Primary lateral sclerosis (PLS) is a motor neuron disease (MND) which mainly affects upper motor neurons. Within the MND spectrum, PLS is much more slowly progressive than amyotrophic laterals sclerosis (ALS). `Classical` ALS is characterized by catabolism and abnormal energy metabolism preceding onset of motor symptoms, and previous studies indicated that the disease progression of ALS involves hypothalamic atrophy.

As global fertilizer application rates increase, high-quality datasets are paramount for comprehensive analyses to support informed decision-making and policy formulation in crucial areas such as food security or climate change. This study aims to fill existing data gaps by employing two machine learning models, eXtreme Gradient Boosting and HistGradientBoosting algorithms to produce precise country-level predictions of nitrogen (N), phosphorus pentoxide (PO), and potassium oxide (KO) application rates. Subsequently, we created a comprehensive dataset of 5-arcmin resolution maps depicting the application rates of each fertilizer for 13 major crop groups from 1961 to 2019.

However, the molecular logic governing these specializations remains unknown. By combining single-nucleus RNA sequencing and Patch-seq analysis, we reveal a set of transcriptionally distinct cell populations encompassing all previously observed types and discover multiple hitherto unknown subtypes with anatomical and physiological identity.
