We report a case of azathioprine sensitivity manifesting with severe hypotension and diarrhoea. This sequence of events occurred on two separate occasions after administration of the drug.

Cardiac tamponade is widely known to be associated with life-threatening hypotension and rarely with hypertension. We present the case of a 53-year-old woman with hypertension and echocardiographic features of tamponade who had a cardiac arrest on intubation. The paradoxical hypertension is thought to be due to tachycardia and increased peripheral vascular resistance resulting from the compensatory sympathetic surge following impaired cardiac filling caused by the effusion.

Objective: Bongkrekic acid (BKA) is a life-threatening toxin linked to foodborne illnesses. Herein, we report two fatalities among 33 patients who ingested BKA in March 2024, East Taipei, Taiwan.
Case Report: Our first case involved a 40-year-old female who presented with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea after consuming wet rice noodles.

Hypothyroidism is typically associated with bradyarrhythmias, but can rarely precipitate life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. We present a case of severe hypothyroidism manifesting as polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT). Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) can be regarded as a key factor determining the severity of multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19 in children (MIS-C), and often requires treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) to avoid life-threatening complications. No reputable specific criteria for the diagnosis of MAS in MIS-C patients have yet been identified, and criteria currently used for the diagnosis of hemophagocytic syndromes, such as HLH-2004, MAS-2005, and MAS-2016, are not sufficient for MAS in MIS-C. Our goal in this study was to work out the criteria for the early diagnosis of MAS in MIS-C.
