Colophony is a solid form of resin derived from coniferous trees that has both adhesive and water-resistant properties. For these reasons, this allergen is incorporated into many personal care products, medications, and occupational materials, and is thus commonly implicated in allergic contact dermatitis. Dedicated "dental" allergen series often include colophony, but dermatologists are likely not well-versed on its use in a dental setting.

Leishmaniasis is a chronic inflammatory zoonotic illness caused by protozoan flagellates belonging to the genus. Current data suggest that over 1 billion people worldwide are susceptible to infection, primarily in tropical and subtropical countries, where up to 2 million new cases are reported annually. Therefore, the development of a vaccine is crucial to combating this disease.

Shuanghuanglian (SHL) and its primary constituents have demonstrated protective effects against allergenic diseases. This review examines the anaphylactic and anti-allergenic activities of SHL and its constituents. We also discuss potential avenues for future research, particularly regarding the expansion of the clinical applications of SHL formulations (oral or nebulized) for the treatment of allergenic disorders.

It is responsible for various infections, including head-and-neck infections, pericarditis, and abscesses of the deltoid, perirenal tissue, brain, and liver. Increasing antibiotic resistance requires urgent identification of novel drug targets to fight this bacterium.

Purpose Of Review: There is an increasing awareness among clinicians that industrial and household food processing methods can increase or decrease the allergenicity of foods. Modification to allergen properties through processing can enable dietary liberations. Reduced allergenicity may also allow for lower risk immunotherapy approaches.
