We have examined the association of Ca2+ with phosphatidylserine/cholesterol and phosphatidylserine/dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine mixed monolayers using a surface radiocounting technique. No Ca2+ association with pure monolayers of the uncharged molecules was observed. The Ca2+/phosphatidylserine surface ratio was approximately 1:2 in expanded monolayers of the pure anionic lipid and in phosphatidylserine/phosphatidylcholine mixtures. An increase in surface-associated Ca2+ to a number ratio of 1:1 was observed in phosphatidylserine/cholesterol films when the mole fraction of cholesterol was raised to 0.5 and above and the phospholipid number density held constant. We interpret these findings as a prevention of intermolecular salt formation by the sterol. Further support is provided by particle electrophoresis.

Herein, the interfacial effects on calcium carbonate clustering within two-dimensional (2D) graphene nanochannels were systematically investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. The distribution characteristics of the ions at the interface can be attributed to the ordered water layers within the 2D nanochannels. The orientation of CO is approximately perpendicular to the interface, which can be attributed to hydrogen bonding and its association with Ca at the interface region.

Ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) are crucial for the formation of fruiting bodies, including the newly discovered , in Korea. This study explores the diversity and distribution of EMF communities associated with across various regions in Korea and assesses the effects of soil physicochemical properties on these communities. Soil analysis indicated that habitats have a lower pH compared to habitats documented in other studies, with sandy loam texture being optimal for fruiting body development.

Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) affect 4.7% of the global population and are associated with delays in brain development and a spectrum of impairments that can lead to lifelong disability and even mortality.
