Since untreated intra-abdominal abscesses are associated with a high mortality rate, early diagnosis is important. In abscesses involving gas formation, plain radiographs of the abdomen in various projections are sufficient for diagnosis. In this article, differential diagnosis of cavities containing gas and fluids is discussed.

Geothermal energy, oil industry, and underground gas storage technology require deep drilling. Although oil-based drilling fluids have been widely used, they cause environmental issues. Environmentally friendly Aphronic fluid has emerged as an alternative to oil-based drilling fluid.

In the development of ultra-deep wells, extremely high temperatures can lead to inefficiency of additives in drilling fluids. Hence, there is a need to prepare additives with a simple preparation process and good effects at ultra-high temperatures to ensure stable drilling fluid performance. In this study, a high temperature resistant filtration loss polymer (LY-2) was prepared using γ-methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (KH570), N,N-dimethylallyl ammonium chloride (DMDAAC), sodium p-styrenesulfonate (SSS), and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD).

Reduction of the reservoir permeability during supercritical CO fracturing caused significant reservoir damage, which directly affects the crude oil recovery rate. This investigation explored a novel thickener for supercritical CO fracturing fluid, this CO thickener not only effectively improves the viscosity and rheological properties of CO fracturing fluid but also contributes to reduce reservoir damage and improve permeability. The research results indicated that the synthesized CO thickener (3 wt %) can increase the apparent viscosity of supercritical CO fracturing fluid to 7 mPa·s, and a 9% matrix permeability damage rate and a 0.

Purpose: We aimed to assess risk factors of candida-related Vascular Graft Infections (VGIs).
Methods: We did a case-control study (1:4) matched by age and year of infection, nested in a cohort of patient with a history of VGIs. Cases were defined by a positive culture for Candida spp.

One of the most serious safety and health concerns during drilling oil and gas wells is the potential release of hydrogen sulfide (HS) to the surface, exposing workers to high risks. Serious corrosion-related damage to handling equipment is also inevitable in the presence of HS. Various HS scavengers have been utilized, but each has its pros and cons; hence, research is continuing to develop an optimum and feasible scavenger.
