Effects of Electroacupuncture Per-Conditioning at Huantiao on Motor Function Recovery in Acute Cerebral Ischemia Mice.

Physiol Behav

January 2025

Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai, 201203, China; Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, 200040, China. Electronic address:

Background: Continuous electroacupuncture pre-conditioning (EPRC) and post-conditioning (EPOC) effectively improve motor dysfunction after acute cerebral ischemia, but they require multiple treatments. Recently, electroacupuncture per-conditioning (EPEC) has demonstrated neuroprotective effects, indicating that this single-session intervention has short-term efficacy.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of EPEC at Huantiao (GB30) on motor recovery in acute cerebral ischemia mice.

Predicting the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatment in lung cancer utilizing artificial intelligence-supported serum N-glycome analysis.

Comput Biol Med

January 2025

Research Institute of Biomolecular and Chemical Engineering, University of Pannonia, Veszprem, Hungary; Horváth Csaba Memorial Laboratory of Bioseparation Sciences, Research Center for Molecular Medicine, Doctoral School of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Debrecen, Debrecen, Hungary. Electronic address:

An efficient novel approach is introduced to predict the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatment in lung cancer by monitoring the serum N-glycome of patients combined with artificial intelligence-based data analysis. The study involved thirty-three lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Serum samples were taken before and after the treatment.

Effectiveness of non-operative methods of treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome: a narrative review.

Wiad Lek

January 2025

DEPARTAMENT OF GENERAL NAD HAND SURGERY, STUDENT'S SCIENTIFIC CIRCLE, POMERANIAN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, SZCZECIN, POLAND.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) can be treated with several methods, including surgical and non-surgical techniques. Non-surgical methods include wrist splinting, systemic pharmacotherapy, intracarpal injections of steroids hydrodissection, acupuncture, nerve and tendon mobilization, osteopathy, taping, topical application of ointments, laser, ultrasound and shock-wave therapies. These treatments are generally less effective than surgery, and provide only short-lived effect, but it may be quite sufficient for a certain category of patients, particularly those suffering from mild symptoms.

Investigate the impact of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) using different photosensitizers (PSs) such as indocyanine green (IG), curcumin (CC), and methylene blue (MB), with or without intracanal application of calcium hydroxide (CH), on the push-out bond strength of glass-fiber posts (GFPs) to intraradicular dentin, the chemical composition of the root substrate, and the sealing of the adhesive interface across different thirds of intraradicular dentin. A total of 112 bovine teeth underwent biomechanical preparation and were divided into eight experimental groups (n = 14 each): Negative control with deionized water; positive control with deionized water + CH; IG group with indocyanine green and infrared laser; IG + CH group; CC group with curcumin and blue LED; CC + CH group; MB group with methylene blue and red laser; and MB + CH group. The push-out bond strength was measured using a universal testing machine (n = 8), and scanning electron microscopy characterized the fracture patterns.
