Background: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is the most important standard for the entrance of clinical drugs into the pharmaceutical market. The elevation of superoxide anion (O) during drug metabolism can mediate apoptosis of hepatocytes and further generation of liver damage. Therefore, developing an effective imaging method for evaluating O levels during DILI is of great importance.

NADPH oxidases (NOXs) are a family of membrane proteins responsible for intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation by facilitating electron transfer across biological membranes. Despite the established activation of NOXs by protein kinase C (PKC), the precise mechanism through which PKC triggers NOX activation during breast cancer invasion remains unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the role of NOX1 and NOX5 in the invasion of MCF‑7 human breast cancer cells.

Neutrophils contribute to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) by releasing prothrombotic neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). NET formation (known as NETosis) is an energy-intensive process that requires an increased rate of aerobic glycolysis. The metabolic enzymes pyruvate dehydrogenase kinases (PDKs) inhibit the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex to divert the pyruvate flux from oxidative phosphorylation toward aerobic glycolysis.

Cells actively engaged in de novo steroidogenesis rely on an expansive intracellular network to efficiently transport cholesterol. The final link in the transport chain is STARD1, which transfers cholesterol to the enzyme complex that initiates steroidogenesis. However, the regulation of ovarian STARD1 is not fully characterized, and even less is known about the upstream cytosolic cholesterol transporters STARD4 and STARD6.

Adoptive transfer of ex vivo expanded tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have produced long-term response in metastatic cancers. TILs have traditionally been expanded from surgically resected specimens. Ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy (CNB) is an alternative method that avoids the morbidity of surgery and have added benefits which may include patients not amenable to surgery as well as the potential to produce TILs from multiple lesions in the same patient.
