The ball-pitching plugging-selection profile control technology represents an effective and low-cost means of adjusting the profile of waterflooding well. The technology primarily utilizes polymer balls to plug the perforations, thereby achieving the effect of fine profile control. This paper aims to elucidate the migration and plugging laws of plugging-selection balls in wellbore and perforation plugging processes.

Background: Radiotherapy is the primary treatment modality for most head and neck cancers (HNCs). Despite the addition of chemotherapy to radiotherapy to enhance its tumoricidal effects, almost a third of HNC patients suffer from locoregional relapses. Salvage therapy options for such recurrences are limited and often suboptimal, partly owing to divergent tumor and microenvironmental factors underpinning radioresistance.

N6-methyladenosine RNA modification regulates the transcription of SLC7A11 through KDM6B and GATA3 to modulate ferroptosis.

J Biomed Sci

January 2025

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of New Drug Design and Evaluation, State Key Laboratory of Anti-Infective Drug Discovery and Development, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, 510006, China.

Background: Recent studies indicate that N6-methyladenosine (mA) RNA modification may regulate ferroptosis in cancer cells, while its molecular mechanisms require further investigation.

Methods: Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (HPLC/MS/MS) was used to detect changes in mA levels in cells. Transmission electron microscopy and flow cytometry were used to detect mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS).

MAF1 inhibits hepatocarcinogenesis by fostering an immunostimulatory tumor microenvironment.

J Immunother Cancer

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, and Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, China

Background: The biological significance of MAF1, a tumor suppressor, in carcinogenesis and immune response of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unreported. Understanding the underlying mechanisms by which MAF1 enhances anti-tumor immunity in HCC is crucial for developing novel immunotherapy strategies and enhancing clinical responses to treatment for patients with HCC.

Methods: Mice were subjected to hydrodynamic tail vein injections of transposon vectors to overexpress AKT/NRas, or c-Myc, with or without wild-type (WT) or mutant-activated (-4A) MAF1, or short-hairpin MAF1 (shMAF1).

Hybrid lipid nanoparticles with tumor antigen-primed dendritic cell membranes for post-surgical tumor immunotherapy.

J Control Release

January 2025

College of Pharmacy and Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Seoul National University, Seoul 08826, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Post-surgical tumor recurrence poses a major challenge in cancer treatment due to residual tumor cells and surgery-induced immunosuppression. Here, we developed hybrid nanoparticles, termed T-DCNPs, designed to promote antigen-specific activation of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells while concurrently inhibiting immunosuppressive pathways within the tumor microenvironment. T-DCNPs were formulated by co-extruding lipid nanoparticles containing a transforming growth factor β inhibitor with dendritic cells that were pre-treated with autologous neoantigens derived from surgically excised tumors.
