Cardiovascular responses to the intravenous (i.v.) and the intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) administration of cadmium acetate were evaluated in rats anaesthetized with urethane. Cadmium acetate (1 mg/kg i.v.) caused an initial fall followed by a persistent rise in blood pressure. Cadmium acetate (1 microgram i.c.v.) produced a more marked hypertensive effect. In the spinal-transected rat, the effect of intravenous cadmium was reduced but the effect of intraventricularly administered cadmium was completely abolished. It is, therefore, suggested that both central and peripheral mechanisms are involved in the pressor response to cadmium exposure.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of the effect of cadmium exposure on TopBP1-induced mitochondrial DNA damage in atherosclerotic rats to affect oxidative stress.
Methods: 50 rats were established atherosclerotic model, and they were divided into model control group (MC group), low-dose cadmium exposure group (LD group), medium-dose cadmium exposure group (MD group), high-dose cadmium exposure group (HD group), and positive control group, with 10 rats in each group. Rats in the LD group, MD group, and HD group were intraperitoneally injected with different doses of cadmium acetate solution for intervention, rats in the PC group were intraperitoneally injected with oxidized banking solution, and those in the MC group were injected with normal saline.

The title coordination compound, [Cd(CHO)(CHNO)]·4HO, was synthesized by mixing 2 moles of 4-(2-amino-eth-yl)morpholine and 1 mole of cadmium acetate in double-distilled water. The Cd atom is octa-hedrally coord-inated by two ,'-bidentate ligands [4-(2-amino-eth-yl)morpholine] and two -located acetate mol-ecules. The Cd atom is located on a center of inversion, whereas the 4-(2-amino-eth-yl)morpholine and four water mol-ecules are adjacent to the acetate mol-ecules.

A first coordination compound of 2-amino-benzoxazole (), namely, bis-(2-amino-benzoxazole-κ )bis-(acetato-κ ,')cadmium(II), [Cd(CHCOO)()], has been synthesized from ethanol solutions of Cd(CH(COO) and . In the monoclinic crystals with the space group 2/, the cadmium ions coordinate two neutral mol-ecules in a monodentate fashion through the oxazole N atom, while two acetate ligands are coordinated through the O atoms in a bidentate manner. The coordination polyhedron of the central ion is substanti-ally distorted octa-hedral.

The aim of this study was to develop the ranostic nanocomposite by conjugating quantum dots with functional, therapeutic and targeting moieties. The quantum dots nanoparticles were used to diagnose and deliver anti-tumor drugs in a controlled manner to cancerous cells by fusing with tumor cell surfaces. To enhance the attachment of the nano-composite to specific tumor cells without harming neighboring normal cells, folic acid was conjugated with the nano-composite as folate receptors are over expressed in different kinds of tumors.
