Local field potential (LFP) recordings using chronically implanted sensing-enabled stimulators are a powerful tool for indexing symptom presence and severity in neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, and for enhancing our neurophysiological understanding of brain processes. LFPs have gained interest as input signals for closed-loop deep brain stimulation (DBS) and can be used to inform DBS parameter selection. LFP recordings using chronically implanted sensing-enabled stimulators have various implementational challenges.

Objective: This study evaluated the diagnostic value of plasma Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) levels and the index of cardiac electrophysiological balance (iCEB) in identifying silent myocardial ischemia (SMI) in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients.

Methods: This cross-sectional observational study involved patients receiving MHD treatment. Data were collected on coronary angiography performed in our hospital from February 2023 to February 2024.

Neuroimaging features for cognitive fatigue and its recovery with VR intervention: An EEG microstates analysis.

Brain Res Bull

January 2025

Department of Radiology, Functional and Molecular Imaging Key Lab of Shaanxi Province, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University, No.569 Xinsi Road, Xi'an, 710038, Shaanxi, China. Electronic address:

Introduction: Cognitive fatigue is mainly caused by enduring mental stress or monotonous work, impairing cognitive and physical performance. Natural scene exposure is a promising intervention for relieving cognitive fatigue, but the efficacy of virtual reality (VR) simulated natural scene exposure is unclear. We aimed to investigate the effect of VR natural scene on cognitive fatigue and further explored its underlying neurophysiological alterations with electroencephalogram (EEG) microstates analysis.

Inhibition of P2X7 receptor mitigates atrial fibrillation susceptibility in isoproterenol-induced rats.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

January 2025

Department of Cardiology, the First Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia that is characterized by atrial electrical remodeling. The P2X7 receptor (P2X7R), an ATP-gated ion channel, has been implicated in cardiovascular pathologies; however, its role in atrial electrical remodeling remains unclear. This study investigated whether inhibition of P2X7R could mitigate isoproterenol (ISO)-induced atrial electrical remodeling in rats and explored the underlying mechanisms.

Background And Objective: One of the functions attributed to the auditory efferent system is related to the processing of acoustic stimuli in noise backgrounds. However, clinical implications and the neurophysiological mechanisms of this system are not yet understood, especially on higher regions of the central nervous system. Only a few researchers studied the effects of noise on cortical auditory evoked potentials (CAEP), but the lack of studies in this area and the contradictory results, especially in children, point to the need to investigate different protocols and parameters that could allow the study of top-down activity in humans.
