Using specially designed electrodes, an automated system for arrhythmia diagnosis and an all-purpose programmed electrocardiostimulator, the authors succeeded in obtaining a precise real-time chart of the electrical excitation distribution on the heart surface. The system was tested during open heart surgery in patients with congenital heart disease.
