The enzyme renin has long been considered an exclusively renal enzyme responsible for the generation of angiotensin in the plasma, and angiotensin was considered a peptide hormone with specific target organs. Since renin has been discovered to occur not only in the kidney but in addition in a large number of other tissues, e.g. the salivary gland, the uterus, the blood vessels, the adrenal gland and the brain, this concept had to be revised. The possibility of local generation of angiotensin in these target tissues, where it has marked biological effects casts a new light on angiotensin as a more ubiquitous tissue factor or even a neurohormone.

Objectives: To evaluate the performance of a 3D V-Net-based segmentation model of adrenal lesions in characterizing adrenal glands as normal or abnormal.
Methods: A total of 1086 CT image series with focal adrenal lesions were retrospectively collected, annotated, and used for the training of the adrenal lesion segmentation model. The dice similarity coefficient (DSC) of the test set was used to evaluate the segmentation performance.

Objective: The effects of sex hormones remain largely unexplored in pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) and gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs).
Methods: We evaluated the effects of estradiol, progesterone, Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS), and testosterone on human patient-derived PPGL/GEP-NET primary culture cell viability (n = 38/n = 12), performed next-generation sequencing and immunohistochemical hormone receptor analysis in patient-derived PPGL tumor tissues (n = 36).
Results: In PPGLs, estradiol and progesterone (1 µm) demonstrated overall significant antitumor effects with the strongest efficacy in PPGLs with NF1 (cluster 2) pathogenic variants.

Hypertension is a growing concern worldwide, with increasing prevalence rates in both children and adults. Most cases of hypertension are multifactorial, with various genetic, environmental, socioeconomic, and lifestyle influences. However, monogenic hypertension, a blanket term for a group of rare of hypertensive disorders, is caused by single-gene mutations that are typically inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion, and ultimately disrupt normal blood pressure regulation in the kidney or adrenal gland.

Erlotinib, an epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI), is currently used in the therapy of several solid malignancies. This agent has been associated with several dermatological side-effects, the most common being papulo-pustular acneiform rash. Herein we describe a unique skin effect in a patient treated with erlotinib for non-small cell lung cancer.

Adrenal incidentalomas are increasingly identified through advanced imaging, posing diagnostic challenges due to their varied benign and malignant nature. We present the case of a 29-year-old male who, during evaluation for left renal colic, was found to have a 5.5 cm heterogeneous right adrenal mass on non-contrast CT, initially suggestive of a myelolipoma.
