A new method has been developed for producing gastric ulcers in rats. The rapid induction of gastric lesions was achieved by a combination of the administration of indomethacin in addition to cold and restraint stressors. Ulcer indices were easily reproducible and remained constant. In addition, atropine, cimetidine and an antacid were tested for their antiulcerogenic effects with the same model. All three drugs inhibited ulcer development in a dose-dependent manner.

: Live microorganisms, named probiotics, can improve overall physical well-being, particularly the oral cavity's health. , a popular probiotic, can influence the immune response by increasing the number of macrophages and plasma cells that play a role in traumatic ulcer healing. : To determine the expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and the varied number of plasma cells and macrophages on a traumatic ulcer animal model treated with topical or systemic administration of a probiotic : Thirty-six healthy, 2-3-month-old male weighing 175-250 gram, were designed into control and topical and systemic administration probiotic groups.

Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common condition that manifests as ulcerative lesions in the oral mucosa. In this study, bilayer, mucoadhesive nanofibers loaded with pomegranate flower extract (PFE) were prepared using thiolated gelatin (TGel) and thiolated chitosan (TCS) as the active layer and drug-free polycaprolactone (PCL) as the backing layer. Gelatin (Gel) and chitosan (CS) were successfully thiolated (proven by Ellman's assay, solubility, H NMR, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and XRD) and electrospun into active nanofibrous layers with a diameter of 356.

() is a Gram-negative, obligate anaerobic, commensal bacterium residing in the human gut and holds therapeutic potential for ulcerative colitis (UC). Previous studies have indicated that capsular polysaccharide A (PSA) of is a crucial component for its effectiveness, possessing various biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and immune-modulating effects. We previously isolated and characterized the strain ZY-312 from the feces of a healthy breastfed infant, and extracted its PSA, named TP2.

Chondroitin sulfate (CS) and glucosamine (GlcN) are indicated for the treatment of some inflammatory diseases, such as osteoarthritis, mainly because of the anti-inflammatory effects in reducing metalloproteinases activities (MMP), and other inflammatory mediators. Herein, we reported the structure of the CS, the anti-inflammatory and protective effects of the CS, and GlcN administration in ulcerative colitis model induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in rats. Experimental data indicated that CS disaccharide composition is very similar to the C4S standard, with modal molecular weight at 30.

Background: 5-Aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), the first-line therapy for ulcerative colitis, is a poorly soluble zwitterionic drug. Unformulated 5-ASA is thought to be extensively absorbed in the small intestine.
Methods: The pH-dependent solubility of 5-ASA in vitro and the intestinal membrane distribution of 5-ASA and its N-acetyl metabolite (AC-5-ASA) after the oral administration of 5-ASA were examined in fed rats.
