In the research it has been carried out a morphological investigation of the paracoronal area of the fungiform papillae. By means of scanning, transmission and light microscopy it has been observed in this area a series of superficial openings around and external to the ciliary crown; and in the epithelium corresponding cavitary system. Each cavity on the other hand appears surrounded by extremely narrow epithelial cells and thus appears able to facilitate the papillary exchange activity. This paracoronal cavitary system is proposed as morphological candidate for the conspicuous water entry in the papillae during osmotic phenomena.

Coccidioidomycosis, caused by the dimorphic fungi Coccidioides immitis and Coccidioides posadasii, is recognized as an increasing threat both nationally and worldwide. This is in large part secondary to the expanding range of Coccidioides species and increased international travel to endemic regions. Most individuals exposed to airborne Coccidioides organisms do not need medical attention, but approximately 30% will demonstrate primary pulmonary coccidioidomycosis with signs and symptoms that mimic community-acquired pneumonia or other respiratory illnesses.

Invasive aspergillosis (IA) significantly increases mortality in critically ill patients in the ICU and its occurrence is closely related to immunocompromise. Dissemination of IA is easily misdiagnosed and mistreated due to its ability to invade multiple systems throughout the body and lack of typical clinical manifestations. In this case, a 25-year-old previously healthy woman was hospitalized with fulminant myocarditis and treated with veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane pulmonary oxygenation (VA-ECMO) support and intravenous acyclovir, high-dose methylprednisolone, and immunoglobulin.

Purpose: For cervical cancer patients, intra-cavitary brachytherapy (ICBT) is utilized with various dose-rate systems, such as low-dose-rate (LDR), high-dose-rate (HDR), and pulsed-dose-rate (PDR). This retrospective analysis aimed to compare the therapeutic outcomes of cervical cancer patients treated with either LDR-, HDR-, or PDR-ICBT.
Material And Methods: A total of 613 patients were treated with pelvic external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), followed by either LDR- (271 patients), HDR- (259 patients), or PDR- (83 patients) ICBT.
