The Mycosis Fungoides Cooperative Group has been following patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, including mycosis fungoides and the Sézary syndrome variant. Previous analyses identified the extent of skin involvement and the number of sites of clinically enlarged lymph nodes as important prognostic variables. These two variables were used to classify 340 patients into four clinical stages. Repeat analysis based on additional followup data shows the usefulness of this clinical staging system for identifying patients with differing survival experience. An alternative grouping suggested by fitting a survival model to the data also has been studied. Staging systems based only on skin involvement and lymph nodes are recommended for general use because the information needed is readily available, requiring only physical examination.

A large set of antimalarial molecules (N ~ 15k) was employed from ChEMBL to build a robust random forest (RF) model for the prediction of antiplasmodial activity. Rather than depending on high throughput screening (HTS) data, molecules tested at multiple doses against blood stages of Plasmodium falciparum were used for model development. The open-access and code-free KNIME platform was used to develop a workflow to train the model on 80% of data (N ~ 12k).

Background: The progression of bladder cancer (BC) from non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) to muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) significantly increases disease severity. Although the tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a pivotal role in this process, the heterogeneity of tumor cells and TME components remains underexplored.
Methods: We characterized the transcriptomes of single cells from 11 BC samples, including 4 NMIBC, 4 MIBC, and 3 adjacent normal tissues.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic lung disease characterized by airway obstruction and inflammation. Non-typeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi) lung infections are common in COPD, promoting frequent exacerbations and accelerated lung function decline. The relationship with immune responses and NTHi are poorly understood.

Methods: All iERM eyes were graded into four stages based on the presence of ectopic inner foveal layers (EIFL) and underwent 23-gauge vitrectomy combined with ERM and internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, while their fellow eyes were treated as the control group. OCTA was used to measure retinal thickness(RT), foveal avascular zone (FAZ)-related parameters and superficial and deep capillary plexus (SCP and DCP) layers using 6 × 6 mm scans before, 1 month and 3 months after surgery.

Background: Loneliness and social isolation can occur at any stage of life, but some predictors may be more common among older adults. Due to growing population ageing, loneliness and social isolation are relevant social issues. Many studies apply the main definitions of loneliness and social isolation offered by the literature without considering how individual representations, socio-cultural context and the culture of care may influence their perception.
