Objectives: Glucocorticoid cosecretion is more common in primary aldosteronism (PA) than previously thought. Chronic subtle cortisol excess in patients with mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS) negatively affects bone health. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of MACS on bone density and turnover markers in PA patients.

Aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) is a leading cause of primary aldosteronism (PA), a condition marked by excessive aldosterone secretion. CYP11B2, the aldosterone synthase, plays a critical role in aldosterone biosynthesis and the development of APA. Despite its significance, encoding regulatory mechanisms governing CYP11B2, particularly its degradation, remain poorly understood.

Hu sheep is characterized by its excellent fecundity and high adaptability to various ecological environments. To reveal the molecular basis involved in Hu sheep, we first examined the 10 index of neuroendocrine and metabolism in blood in Hu sheep during non-stress period (April-May) and stress period (July-August) using ELISA, including CRH, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), cortisol, aldosterone, adrenaline, T3,T4, SOD, GSH-PX, and T-AOC. Then we conducted the Whole genome DNA methylation sequencing in blood and performed the comparative analysis of global DNA methylation between the non-stress period and the stress period.

The pathogenesis of obesity-associated kidney disease (OAKD) involves many aspects, including the overactivation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, disorder of lipid metabolism and imbalance of gut microecology.Treatment strategies for OAKD focus on lifestyle adjustments, pharmacotherapy, bariatric surgery, and fecal microbiota transplantation.A deeper understanding of the hazards of OAKD and its pathogenesis will contribute to the development of personalized and precise strategies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of OAKD in the future.

Concurrent Adrenal Adenoma, Unilateral Adrenal Hyperplasia, and Bilateral Renal Artery Stenosis in a 61-Year-Old Man.

December 2024

Department of Radiology, Faculté de Médecine de Sousse, Université de Sousse, Hôpital Farhat Hached, Sousse, Tunisie.

We report a case of a very rare association of adrenal adenoma, unilateral adrenal hyperplasia, and bilateral renal artery stenosis. A 61-year-old man with a remarkable history of two severe strokes was admitted to the Nephrology department with hypertension associated with severe hypokalemia and metabolic alkalosis. Doppler of renal arteries was not conclusive, so contrast-enhanced scanning was done revealing a left adrenal adenoma, right adrenal hyperplasia, and bilateral moderate renal artery stenosis.
