A simian adenovirus SA7 (C-8) DNA was microinjected into fertilized mouse eggs. Thirty-five mice derived from eggs injected with SA7 DNA were screened for the presence of the adenovirus genome in their liver DNA. Eighteen of these mice contained the virus-specific sequences. SA7 DNA was detected in some tissues, but in all cases, viral sequences were absent from muscle and heart DNA. Viral DNA was inherited by 50-70% of the next generation. One mouse that contained about 1 copy of SA7 DNA per haploid genome has been shown to pass it on to five generations, although the integrated viral DNA sustained a considerable structural change between F1 and F3. RNA analysis in various organs of 12 mice has shown the transcription of SA7 DNA to be very infrequent: only in the kidney of one mouse and in the spleen of another did RNA contain SA7-specific sequences.

The current knowledge about Palestinian safflower landraces is relatively limited in terms of phenotypic and molecular characterization, however, the purpose of this investigation was to determine the amount of genetic diversity in eighteen local safflower landraces using seven DAMD markers. The banding patterns for each primer were scored and compiled into a data matrix. Subsequently, the data matrix was analyzed using UPGMA cluster analysis to identify distinct genetic groups among the landraces.

Objectives: To investigate the genetic basis of pleuromutilin resistance in coagulase-negative staphylococci of porcine origin that do not carry known pleuromutilin resistance genes and to determine the localization and genetic environment of the identified resistance gene.
Methods: Plasmid DNA of two pleuromutilin-resistant Staphylococcus cohnii and Staphylococcus simulans isolates was transformed into Staphylococcus aureus RN4220. The identified resistance plasmids were sequenced completely.

A highly oncogenic monkey adenovirus SA7(C8) facilitates the reproduction of human adenovirus type 2 (Ad2) in monkey cells. Upon mixed infection of monkey cells with both viruses, these viruses recombine producing defective adeno-adeno hybrids Ad2C8 serologically identical to Ad2 and capable of assisting Ad2 to reproduce in monkey cells. Ad2C8 and Ad2 form an intercomplementary pair inseparable in monkey cells.

In this study, we report the identification of two arsenic-binding proteins from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. The crude extract derived from CHO and SA7 (arsenic-resistant CHO cells) was applied to a phenylarsine oxide-agarose affinity column, and after extensive washing, the absorbed proteins were eluted with buffers containing 20 mM 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) or dithiothreitol (DTT). Three differentially expressed proteins, galectin 1 (Gal-1; in the 2-ME-eluted fraction from CHO cells), glutathione S-transferase P-form (GST-P) and thioredoxin peroxidase II (TPX-II), respectively in the 2-ME- and DTT-eluted fractions from SA7 cells, were identified by partial amino acid sequence analysis after separation by SDS/PAGE.
