To investigate the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of young children in a randomized clinical trial (RCT) of silver diammine fluoride (SDF) and five percent sodium fluoride varnish (NaFV) to manage early childhood caries (ECC). Children younger than 72 months of age with active dentinal caries lesions (ICDAS 5 or 6) in primary teeth received two applications of 38 percent SDF and five percent NaFV as part of an RCT testing three different frequency regimes (one, four, and six months apart). The Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale (ECOHIS) questionnaire was completed at three study visits.

Background: According to anecdotal reports, SDF's ability to arrest caries can be enhanced by light-curing in a clinical setting. The purpose of the present study was to explore the dental professionals' perceptions of using SDF and to understand the barriers and enabling factors to using SDF with and without light-curing.
Methods: A qualitative study was conducted with dental professionals who had experience with using SDF with and without light-curing.

An organocatalytic method for the SuFEx click reaction of gaseous SOF is described. Different organic bases such as DBU, TBD, triethylamine and Hünig's base can efficiently catalyze the SuFEx of SOF with various phenols to produce aryl fluorosulfates in 61-97% yields. Under the same conditions, pyridone, pyrazolone and amines can also react with SOF to afford the corresponding heteroaryl fluorosulfates or sulfamoyl fluorides in good yields.

The in situ monitoring of dynamic covalent macromolecular boronate esters represents a difficult task. In this report, we present an in situ method using fluoride coordination and B NMR spectroscopy to determine the amount of boronate esters in a mixture of boronic acids and cis-diols. With fluoride coordination, the boronic acid and boronate esters afforded trifluoroborate and fluoroboronate esters, giving identical resonances at 3 and 9 ppm in the B NMR spectra.

The chemical inertness of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fabrics poses challenges in achieving superhydrophobic coatings with durable adhesion on their surfaces. Conventional surface modification methods such as alkali etching and plasma etching typically compromise the favorable mechanical properties of PET. In this study, polydopamine (PDA) was utilized to functionalize the PET fabric nondestructively by creating robust and reactive hydroxyl and amine groups on its surface, which were subsequently used as a binder of superhydrophobic modifiers such as fluorine-free octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS).
