Analysis of electrophoretic mobility of histone H1 subfractions from liver, brain and erythrocytes of 41 bird species was carried out. Subfractions of erythrocyte H1 histones from each species were compared with those of thrush Turdus musicus. The majority of species proved to possess a set of electrophoretically similar subfractions. Interspecific differences in histone H1 were mainly due to the differences in the ratio of those subfractions. The identity of the electrophoretic mobility and similar contribution to H1 histone from the respective tissues in different species permits to consider certain subfractions as homologous ones. The conservation of electrophoretic mobility for homologous subfractions of the birds of different orders shows a high evolutionary conservatism of the corresponding genes. It seems that in the course of evolution only a change in the expression of some of those genes occurs.

HS is a well-known gaseous signaling molecule that plays important roles in plant response to biotic stresses. Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato (Pst) could cause enormous loss, while whether HS could modulate plant defense against Pst is still unclear. By CRISPR/Cas9, the Sldcd1 gene editing mutant showed reduced endogenous HS content and attenuated resistance, whereas treatment with exogenous HS could enhance the resistance.

Chemical signals are pivotal in establishing tritrophic interactions among host plants, herbivorous insects, and natural enemies. Previous studies have shown that evolutionarily conserved MaltOBPs in Monochamus alternatus and DhelOBPs in Dastarcus helophoroides contribute to the establishment of pine -pest - natural enemy tritrophic interactions by recognizing the same volatile emitted by the host during crucial developmental stages. We hypothesized that the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of evolutionarily conserved OBPs respectively from pests and enemies are similar.

Lincomycin, produced by the actinomycete Streptomyces lincolnensis, is highly effective against Gram-positive bacteria and protozoans, making it widely used in clinical settings. This study identified LcbR2, a MarR family transcriptional regulator, as an activator of lincomycin biosynthesis. Knocking out the lcbR2 gene reduced lincomycin production by 63.

This study examines the adsorption and bulk assembly behaviour of quaternized hydroxyethylcellulose ethoxylate (QHECE)-sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) complexes on negatively charged substrates. Due to its quaternized structure, QHECE, which is used in several industries, including cosmetics, exhibits enhanced electrostatic interactions. The phase behaviour and adsorption mechanisms of QHECE-SDS complexes are investigated using model substrates that mimic the wettability and surface charge of damaged hair fibres.
