Objective: Focal cooling is emerging as a relevant therapy for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE). However, we lack data on its effectiveness in controlling seizures that originate in deep-seated areas like the hippocampus. We present a thermoelectric solution for focal brain cooling that specifically targets these brain structures.

Objective: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) use in treating orthopedic conditions has increased, yet evidence of its clinical efficacy is inconsistent and limited by heterogeneity in osteoarthritis (OA) severity, PRP preparations and protocols, and clinical outcome measurement. This review aims to characterize the variations in postinjection protocols in studies assessing the clinical efficacy of PRP for knee OA.
Literature Survey: A systematic review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.

Purpose: Limited literature supports using ethyl chloride topical spray as an anesthetic for hand injections whereas documented risks include frostbite, skin irritation, and inhalation toxicity. We hypothesize that ethyl chloride spray imparts no benefit to patients' perception of pain or anxiety for routine hand injections.
Methods: We first surveyed all members of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand to discern the prevalence of ethyl chloride use during routine injections.

Unlabelled: This prospective, randomized controlled study was designed to determine if applying ice to the site of corticosteroid injections in the hand and wrist reduces post-injection pain. Patients receiving corticosteroid injections in the hand or wrist at a tertiary institution were enrolled. Subjects were randomized to apply ice to the injection site and take scheduled over-the-counter analgesics ( n = 36) or take scheduled over-the-counter analgesics alone ( n = 32).

Despite the effort of developing various nanodelivery systems, most of them suffer from undesired high uptakes by the reticuloendothelial system, such as liver and spleen. Herein we develop an endogenous phosphatase-triggered coassembly strategy to form tumor-specific indocyanine green (ICG)-doped nanofibers (5) for cancer theranostics. Based on coordinated intermolecular interactions, 5 significantly altered near-infrared absorbance of ICG, which improves the critical photoacoustic and photothermal properties.
