The surgical treatment of carcinoma of the lower segment of the esophagus presents a problem in the sense of operability and five--years survival. The authors presented 56 patients operated by GARLOCK-SWEET method for carcinoma of the lower segment of the esophagus. The investigated clinical material was divided into 2 groups. In the group--I (A) 17 operated patients were classified without metastatic deposits in the regional lymph nodes. In group--II (B) were 39 operated cases with regional lymphatic nodes metastatic deposits, where as a splenectomy was made. In a 11 operated patients pyloroplasty was made. Leakage of the anastomosis occurred in 7 patients. Only 6 patients survived more than 5 years after the operation. A control group (C) of 13 patients with inoperabile carcinoma of the lower segment of the esophagus had been inserted the Celestin tube. In 5 patients there was operabile mortality.

Objectives: To compare the consolidation quality between the anteromedial aspect of regenerated bone (AMRB) and other areas of regenerated bone (TORB) following the induced membrane technique (IMT) for managing critical-sized tibial shaft bone defects, and determine the factors affecting consolidation quality in the AMRB.
Methods: Design: Retrospective comparative study.
Setting: Academic Level I trauma center.

Chin narrowing surgery also described as T-shape genioplasty is a procedure commonly performed in South Korean females, as well as, transgender females as it provides more triangle and feminine appearance of the lower face. It requires segmentation of the chin and that is more challenging than classic sliding genioplasty, which is commonly performed in the correction of retro or progenia. This article describes the utility of the new concept of a t-shape genioplasty plate that reduces the time of operation and minimizes typical complications of this procedure such as postoperative chin asymmetry or inadequate adhesion between bone segments.

Objectives: Our study aimed to compare signal characteristics of subdural electrodes (SDE) and depth stereo EEG placed within a 5-mm vicinity in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. We report how electrode design and placement collectively affect signal content from a shared source between these electrode types.
Methods: In subjects undergoing invasive intracranial EEG evaluation at a surgical epilepsy center from 2012 to 2018, stereo EEG and SDE electrode contacts placed within a 5-mm vicinity were identified.

Introduction: We aimed to explore the difference in choroidal vascular parameters using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) compared to controls. We also explored the ability of the choroidal parameters to reflect elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) in patients with IIH.
Methods: This observational study recruited patients diagnosed with IIH and healthy controls.
