Rat liver cells in primary culture have been used to study the influence of ethanol and of a polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine preparation from soybean lecithin on glycerol incorporation into lipids. Ethanol decreases the incorporation of glycerol into choline and ethanolamine phosphoglycerides and increases that into diglyceride, either when added to the incubation medium or when administered to rats prior to hepatocyte preparation. The addition of the polyunsaturated lipid material (EPL) is able to counteract the effect of ethanol modifying the labeling of glycerol in favour of phospholipids.

Rationale: Warfarin is the most commonly used drug in patients with mechanical valve replacement. Acute liver damage after warfarin is rare but potentially harmful. We present a case of warfarin-induced gastrointestinal bleeding with liver injury, pharmacy monitoring, and its therapy.

Methods: One hundred twenty NAFLD patients were randomly assigned to either the observation group (n = 60) or the control group (n = 60). The control group received single-dose PPC treatment, while the observation group received a combination of PPC and liraglutide for 12 weeks.

One of the factors that predispose to fractures is liver damage. Interestingly, fractures are sometimes accompanied by abnormal liver function. Polyene phosphatidylcholine (PPC) is an important liver repair drug.

Protein and lipid are two major components that undergo significant changes during processing of aquatic products. This study focused on the protein oxidation, protein conformational states, lipid oxidation and lipid molecule profiling of salted large yellow croaker during storage, and their correlations were investigated. The degree of oxidation of protein and lipid was time-dependent, leading to an increase in carbonyl content and surface hydrophobicity, a decrease in sulfhydryl groups, and an increase in conjugated diene, peroxide value and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances value.

The phytoalexin resveratrol has received increasing attention for its potential to prevent oxidative damages in human organism. To shed further light on molecular mechanisms of its interaction with lipid membranes we study resveratrol influence on the organisation and mechanical properties of biomimetic lipid systems composed of synthetic phosphatidylcholines with mixed aliphatic chains and different degree of unsaturation at sn-2 position (1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, POPC, and 1-palmitoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, PDPC). High-sensitivity isothermal titration calorimetric measurements reveal stronger spontaneous resveratrol association to polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine bilayers compared to the monounsaturated ones resulting from hydrophobic interactions, conformational changes of the interacting species and desolvation of molecular surfaces.
