Static cold storage of donor livers at 4 °C incompletely arrests metabolism, ultimately leading to decreases in ATP levels, oxidative stress, cell death, and organ failure. Hydrogen Sulfide (HS) is an endogenously produced gas, previously demonstrated to reduce oxidative stress, reduce ATP depletion, and protect from ischemia and reperfusion injury. HS is difficult to administer due to its rapid release curve, resulting in cellular death at high concentrations.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS) is a gasotransmitter that modulates vascular tone, causing either vasodilation or vasoconstriction depending on the vascular bed, species, and experimental conditions. The cold-sensitive transient receptor potential ankyrin-1 (TRPA1) channel mediates HS-induced effects; however, its contribution to the vasomotor responses of different arteries at different temperatures has remained unclear. Here, we aimed to fill this gap by comparing the effects of sodium sulfide (NaS), which is a fast-releasing HS donor, on the isolated carotid and tail skin arteries of rats and mice at cold and normal body temperature with wire myography.

Very high heat is generated during the polymerization of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) bone cement, which is used for implant fixation in orthopedic surgery. As such, it has been suggested that irrigating the bone cement layer in the surgical site with a saline solution is a way of cooling the layer. In this study, we aimed to determine the influence of irrigation with a saline solution on the flexural strength and the microstructure of the test specimens of two PMMA bone cement brands: Simplex P and FIX 1.

Purpose: The dietary egg-protein hydrolysate Newtricious (NWT)-03 has previously demonstrated improvements in blood pressure and metabolic profiles. However, the long-term effects on vascular function and cardiometabolic risk markers are unknown.
Methods: Forty-four older (aged 60-75) adults with overweight/obesity experiencing elevated Subjective Cognitive Failures (SCF) were randomized into a 36-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
