Introduction: In prolonged care scenarios, where medical evacuations are significantly delayed, the treatment and transport of casualties with extremity musculoskeletal injuries will drain combat units' human resources. Developing enhanced splinting techniques to restore casualty mobility and function can alleviate this drain. To guide this development, a panel of tactical combat and wilderness medicine experts was assembled to determine which extremity musculoskeletal injuries had the greatest impact on unit capabilities, and the materials available for splinting these injuries.

Background: This study assesses the operational challenges and clinical outcomes encountered by a university-based Emergency Medical Team (EMT) during the medical search and rescue (mSAR) response to the February 2023 earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey.

Methods: In this observational study, data were retrospectively collected from 42 individuals who received mSAR services post-earthquake. The challenges were categorized as environmental, logistical, or medical, with detailed documentation of rescue times, patient demographics, injury types, and medical interventions.

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by symmetric polyarthritis. RA is routinely treated by various systemic drugs; on the other hand, administration of intra-articular corticosteroids or different types of synovectomies can be used in case of systemic medication's failure. Chemical, radio isotopic, and surgical synovectomies are being used as therapeutic options for chronic synovitis to improve joint function.
