This prospective nonrandomized study was performed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of, as well as patient tolerance for, a new low osmolality contrast medium, ioxaglate (Hexabrix), in 90 adult patients of both sexes who were referred to our cardiac catheterization laboratory for angiocardiography including selective coronary arteriography. Ioxaglate did not cause any major adverse effects; side effects were rare and mild. Hemodynamic changes were minimal, even in patients with severe coronary artery disease, and no arrhythmias were seen. The radiographic quality of angiograms was scored as good to excellent for each examination, and was equal to that of films performed using a conventional contrast medium. Ioxaglate may be the contrast medium of choice for angiocardiography, especially in patients at high risk, i.e., those with severe coronary artery disease or severe left ventricular dysfunction.

Background: Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining is widely considered to be the gold-standard diagnostic tool for histopathology evaluation. However, the fatty nature of some tissue types, such as breast tissue, presents challenges with cryo-sectioning, often resulting in artifacts that can make histopathologic interpretation and correlation with other imaging modalities virtually impossible. We present an optimized on-block H&E staining technique that improves contrast for identifying collagenous stroma during cryo-fluorescence tomography (CFT) sectioning.

Background: Current endogenous indicators utilised in avian medicine are not sensitive enough to detect renal disease in its early stages. Alternative markers ought to be examined as a result. The aim is to investigate the accuracy of limited-sampling models for glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in adult seagulls using plasma clearance of iohexol (IOX).

Background: The societal value of cats, dogs and horses is high, and the companion and sport animal health care sector is growing. Clinical research concerning cats, dogs and horses is crucial for the development of evidence-based medical care that benefits animals and their owners, and has implications for human and environmental health from a One Health perspective. Basic information on companion animal and equine research enables more directed measures to improve conditions for research within the area.

Background: Spinal epidural arachnoid cysts (SEACs) are rare, non-neoplastic pathologies that can cause compressive myelopathy. Preoperative identification of the exact fistula location is crucial for minimally invasive management.
Methods: This single-center retrospective study included 27 patients with SEACs who underwent "double-needle puncture myelography" to precisely localize the fistula before minimally invasive surgery.

Objective: Patient characteristics, iodine injection, and scanning parameters can impact the quality and consistency of contrast enhancement of hepatic parenchyma in CT imaging. Improving the consistency and adequacy of contrast enhancement can enhance diagnostic accuracy and reduce clinical practice variability, with added positive implications for safety and cost-effectiveness in the use of contrast medium. We developed a clinical tool that uses patient attributes (height, weight, sex, age) to predict hepatic enhancement and suggest alternative injection/scanning parameters to optimize the procedure.
