Background:  We previously identified a factor (F)VIII molecular defect associated with an R2159C mutation in the C1 domain (named "FVIII-Ise") together with undetectable FVIII antigen (FVIII:Ag) levels measured by two-site sandwich ELISA using an anti-C2 domain alloantibody (alloAb). The patient had clinically mild hemophilia A, and his reduced FVIII:C correlated with FVIII:Ag measured by ELISA using monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) with A2 and A2/B domain epitopes, suggesting that the R2159C mutation modified C2 domain antigenicity.

Aim:  To investigate functional and structural characteristics of the FVIII-R2159C mutant.

Background: Phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP), a glycoprotein widely expressed in the body, is primarily involved in plasma lipoprotein metabolism. Previous research has demonstrated that PLTP can exert anti-inflammatory effects and improve individual survival in patients with sepsis and endotoxemia by neutralizing LPS and facilitating LPS clearance. However, the role of PLTP in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) and the specific mechanism of its protective effects are unclear.

An aerobic, Gram-stain-positive, motile, coccus-shaped actinomycete, designated strain LSe6-4, was isolated from leaves of sea purslane (Sesuvium portulacastrum L.) in Thailand and subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic studies. Growth of the strain occurred at temperatures between 15 and 38 °C, and with NaCl concentrations 0-13%.

Annexins are a family of multifunctional calcium-dependent and phospholipid-binding proteins that are widely distributed in the plant kingdom. They have a highly conserved evolutionary history that dates back to single-celled protists. Plant annexins, as soluble proteins, can flexibly bind to endomembranes and plasma membranes, exhibiting unique calcium-dependent and calcium-independent characteristics.

Gallibacterium faecale sp. nov., Isolated from Dairy Cow Feces.

Curr Microbiol

January 2025

Korean Collection for Type Cultures, Biological Resource Center, Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Jeongeup, 56212, Republic of Korea.

A facultative anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterial strain AGMB14963 was isolated from the feces of a dairy cow. A 16S rRNA gene sequence-based phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain AGMB14963 belongs to the genus Gallibacterium, with Gallibacterium salpingitidis F150 being the closest species (95.8% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity).
