The percutaneous internal jugular vein approach is now a commonly performed procedure for central venous catheterization. Iatrogenic arteriovenous fistulae are a very infrequent complication. Mediastinal mass syndrome represents a major threat to respiratory and cardiovascular integrity, with difficult evidence-based risk stratification for interdisciplinary management. We conducted a narrative review concerning risk stratification and difficult airway management of patients presenting with a large mediastinal mass. This is supplemented by a case report illustrating our individual approach for a patient presenting with a subtotal tracheal stenosis due to a large cyst of the thyroid gland.

Background: There is a lack of data on the validation and diagnostic performance of the Freestyle Optium Neo-H (Freestyle) and Centrivet GK (Centrivet) devices for the diagnosis of hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia and hyperketonaemia in goats.
Objectives: The aim of the present study was to validate the Freestyle and Centrivet for the analysis of whole blood beta-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA) and to validate the Freestyle for the analysis of whole blood glucose concentrations using the reference method (RM) in goat blood collected from the jugular and ear veins.
Methods: Venous blood samples were utilised to assess glucose and BHBA concentrations using the Freestyle, Centrivet and RM.

He was initially treated for sepsis, however, subsequent imaging and blood cultures confirmed the diagnosis of Lemierre's syndrome (LS). LS, also known as necrobacillosis or post-pharyngitis anaerobic septicaemia is comprised of a triad of metastatic septic emboli secondary to pharyngitis, bacteraemia, and internal jugular vein thrombophlebitis.

Background: Undergoing an urgent valve surgical procedure to treat patients with tricuspid valve endocarditis carries a high risk of operative morbidity and mortality. Use of a percutaneous vacuum-assisted system to treat tricuspid valve endocarditis is an alternative to surgical procedures.
Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed data from 187 transcatheter vacuum-assisted aspiration procedures performed in 177 patients with tricuspid valve vegetations at 3 different centers between 2017 and April 2022.
